Snow White DVD

Here is another great movie deal. You can get Snow White for $13.99 right now on Amazon. I haven't seen it less than $19.99 since it was released before Christmas. This would be the perfect time to purchase if you are trying to build up your Disney Movie Collection. As most of you know Disney movies return to the vault and you won't be able to purchase them for quite some time.

The Princess and the Frog

If you haven't purchased this movie yet, Amazon has it for $13.99. This is a great price since the stores have raised the price back to $19.99 and the $5 coupon has expired.

Looking for a Fresh Start...

Thursday is a new month and you know what that means, a fresh start! We need it. Brian will get paid three times in April, that's a plus. I hope to be able to save most of the third check. Here are some things we are doing this month to be more accountable for our money.

1. April is the first month we will be using cash for our grocery budget. I will have $100.00 a week to do the shopping. You probably think this is really high for a family of four. This includes food, diapers, dog food (not including Yoda's) and salt for our water softener. We will re-evaluate this amount at the end of the month to see if we can lower it for May.

2. Call Directv and cancel the DVR and the satellite box in our bedroom. We will not be able to cancel the whole thing due to the contract. If we can just drop the extras we will save $20.00. Not a lot but $20 is $20.

3. Call on our car insurance and see if they will give us a new estimate. We really don't want to switch companies but if we have to we will. We have an estimate right now that would save us almost $40.00 a month.

4. Only go out to eat once a week or less. This one will be hard, I know we can do it. I just need to enforce it.

I will be updating on the grocery budget weekly. On April 1st I will withdraw the money and once it is gone it's gone!!! Check back to see how I am doing, I need the accountability!!!

Will it Ever Get Easier?

(This is not an updates photo)
Yoda has been home for 2 nights now, it's a big adjustment. He has never been on the strict schedule since we got him as a puppy 7 years ago. He seems to be doing well. When I went to pick him up Friday I really got to see how much he is gonna cost us each month. All I can say is that I am worried. OK, I'm terrified!!
His insulin is $51.00 a bottle that will last about 40 days. The needles are $21.00, those will last for a month. Prescription food $23.00 every two weeks, so that's $46.00 a month. Then he will be going to the vet every two weeks till we get him on the correct dosage of insulin. That will cost around $40.00 or more a visit. All the added up is at least $198.00 a month!!! All this is consuming my thoughts several times a day.
Back at the end of last year I thought we were in a really good place. We were going to be able to put about $500.00 into savings a month. Then we were hit with Tinleigh's allergies. Between her formula and food she is costing us $400.00 a month. Somethings got to give! I look forward to April for a fresh start. We will be using cash for groceries, this will also include dog food (not Yoda's) baby food, diapers, wipes and salt for our water softener. I will be budgeting $100.00 a week. I need to be accountable. I am terrible at taking photos, especially when Brian goes shopping with us. This needs to change! I will be taking one day out of the week to do all the shopping. I would like to start going to Aldi's but I might not branch till May.
Here's to a more positive attitude and hoping that will can make it by!! Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. :)

Money Making Round Up 3.26.10

Sorry for the lack of Money Making post. With everything that has gone down this week I am a little behind. Here is what I have done so far:

PineCone Research~1 survey $3.00 (They are not excepting applicants at this time)

Opinion Outpost~1 screener*

MySurvey~1 survey 5pts

*A screener is questions asked at before the start of a survey to see if you qualify.

My Mind is Wondering........

There is a 99% chance that Yoda gets to come home today. :) I have to call at 3pm to make sure his glucose reading is still dropping. If all is well I will be going to pick him up. I miss him so much!!! When I called this morning to check on him I asked if they could give me an estimate on how much I would be owing them. I'm thinking anywhere from $500-$900. When she got back with me she said around $400. It's a lot but aleast it's less than we thought it would be.

I just don't know how we are going to pay for everything, the visit I have covered. I'm talking about his follow up appointments and insulin. The insulin is $50 a bottle with will last a month, then the appointments are going to cost at least $40 or more a visit. Where will the money come from? It's not like we are already paying $300 a month for Tinleigh's formula. Then what if she still has to use it after she turns a years because she hasn't grown out of the allergy?

I'm don't know what to do. I feel like I have cried more this week then I have for the past 6 months. I can't find a job that will be worth me going back to work. By the time you pay daycare for 2, gas, more money going to groceries because I need the convenience. There is no money left over. I need help! This blog is my only hope right now. I pray that I would be able to post the right things that people would be interested in. That I would be excepted into the blogging world. I guess all I need is alittle encouragement right now.

Yoda Update

I spent the whole day crying yesterday. I called the vet's office around 9am and they told me that he hadn't made any improvement. I just broke down and sobbed. I felt so guilty that I have focused all my time and energy on the girls that I had neglected him. I asked if I could call back before they closed to get another update. Around 5pm I called back and was told that he had been having seizures. Once again I broke down.

My mind wondered all afternoon. How much will all this cost? Will he even pull through? What will his quality of live be? How much will the insulin cost? Here we are trying to get by, how will we make it all work?

Lastnight I didn't sleep well at all, I had several dreams about him. Some good, some bad. Everytime I ended up crying. This morning at the time was approaching to call and get and update my stomach was churning. I was so nervous, hoping he made it through the night. When I got the courage to call they had me hold to speak with the vet. I thought this can't be good. He got on the phone and told me that his sugar had come down to 230, he hasn't had anymore seizures, he eat breakfast this morning and they started him back one water and was improving. They are going to check his sugar again at 2 this afternoon. If he continues to improve he will be able to come home tomorrow evening.

I'm so thankful that he is improving!! I know he has a ways to go, but I can't wait till we can bring him home. Ainsleigh keeps asking where he is. One of our Danes is very restless, she won't just lay down and get comfortable. I know she misses him also, they have been together from the beginning. I pray will I call back this evening that he is still improving. Boy do I miss that lil guy!!!!

When It Rains, It Pours

As if being in the ER the night before and still dealing with a very fussy baby wasn't enough. My little guy Yoda is very sick! Ever since he hurt his back he's not been right. He has gone down hill rapidly. Brian had to rush him to the vet when he got home from work yesterday, he looked like death. This is him pictured above, of course he doesn't look like this now, he's just skin and bones. He weighed 11lbs and the vet told us he was overweight, so we let him drop a few and he just kept losing. He started acting like he couldn't get enough to drink and then stopped eating.
He now weighs 6 1/2lbs! I am not for sure what all the details are, I feel Brian isn't telling me everything just to save me from more heartache right now. We did find out he is a diabetic and his sugar was through the roof!! They kept him over night and I'm sure he will be there for awhile. I am going to call and check on him around 10:00 this morning. I just hope he made it through the night!!!!

Another night in the ER

The ER is gonna think that we are frequent flyer's. I was at my wits end last night. Tinleigh cried uncontrollably for 2 hours! I was desperate, there was nothing we could do to get her calmed down. She didn't even want us touching her, which is not her because she is always glued to my hip. Finally I told Brian that I was gonna take her to the ER and that I wanted him to come too. We had already put Ainsleigh to bed so my Mother-in-law came over so we could both leave.

She cried all the way to the hospital only taking 2 or 3 millisecond breaks. Once we got to the hospital she stopped! She was smiling! The happiest baby! What the heck! We get a room and the nurse comes in and says, "You brought her in because she was crying?" Her tone was like "Hello, babies cry!" I went on to tell them that she did something similar to the the night before but was alittle fussy during the day yesterday, not like this. She wasn't eating anything and I wanted her ears checked because this is what she did a couple weeks ago when she had a double ear infection.

"So, was she pulling at her ears?" the nurse asks. I told her again that she never ran a fever or pulled at her ears when she was diagnosed before. It's funny that so far neither of the girls has pulled at their ears when they have had ear infections. Doctors and nurses think they have to due that to have an infection. Drives me crazy when they act like I don't know what I am talking about.

Anyway, we for her a stronger antibiotic and they gave us some numbing drops to put in her ears. Which have worked great because she fell right to sleep after they put the drops in and had been asleep ever since. I sure hope this antibiotic works, I hate to see her like this.

Hope you all have a great day!!

The Princess and the Frog

We are a Disney family. How I would love to be able to take my family this year. I don't it will happen. :( I guess we will just get the Disney movies instead. We are trying to build our Disney collection as they come out. That's when they are the cheapest. While some would say we are not saving any money buying these movies we are buying them so when we cancel our satellite they girls will have some shows to watch.

This week we bought The Princess and the Frog. This is a great movie. Ainsleigh approved, she sat in the chair for the whole movie. If that says anything. You can still get it for $15.99 on Amazon.

I wouldn't wait to long if you plan on purchasing it because the price will be going up soon. You won't be disappointed!

I'm so excited!!!!

I was an Alice in Wonderland fan when I was little. I watched the VHS so much it was alittle worn out. I was on the Disney site yesterday searching for new releases and Alice and Wonderland will be released on March 30th.

You can pre-order it on Amazon for the $19.99. Also if you pre-order it before March 30th and the price goes down they will credit you the difference.

I can't wait!!!

Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

I have been doing some research about trying to eat more healthy and such. I came across this Coconut oil, you can use it to replace your vegetable and canola oils. It will leave a little bit of a coconut taste but is a better alternative to the other oils. Have you tried this? Please tell me what you think.

Feels So Good To Be on the Same Page

Yesterday was such a beautiful day outside, the girls and I spent a lot of time outdoors. When Brian got home he decided to wash both our vehicles. So while we were talking he tells me that he has the number to a guy that is developing a subdivision that we are really interested in moving to. Don't get me wrong I love my house and it would be the perfect house, IF it had a basement.

I want to be able to have alittle room to put a treadmill or our computer desk. Poor Tinleigh has to share her bedroom with our desktop computer. It's a good thing she doesn't really care. :) I said before that I would like to have to money saved up for a NICE down payment within two years, but unless God is going to bless us with a good amount on money then I don't see it happening. We have to be out of here with in 5 years, that's when the interest rate on our loan modification goes back to 11%. Yes I know that we can refinance, but this will keep us on our toes.

So, Brian and I were discussing things last night about lowering certain bills and canceling others. I would love to cancel out Directv, I got the bill yesterday and it has went up to $85 a month. Crazy!! I got on the internet and the package we have they don't offer anymore, so we are going to cancel our DVR and the receiver that is in our bedroom. This will save us about $20 a month until our contract is up. (Which is for another 6 months) If we were willing to terminate the contract we would have to pay over $500. I am happy that he is willing to cancel then because I have mentioned other times I didn't want the bill anymore and he says "You can cancel anything else just not my TV!" He's making baby steps!!!! :)

I am going to investigate today to see if I can get out cell phone bill down with out making us go over in minutes. I can't believe how much things cost now-adays. Wow now I sound like my Grandma. Hopefully in the next couple of days we will get our new debits cards from our new checking account. I am still so excited about this move. I feel like we will be saving more money because now I will have a debit card also. Before I couldn't get cash out to go to grocery shopping because it was a hassle. Now I can get cash and try the cash system. I also want to start going to Aldi's. Now that the weather is improving I will be able to go grocery shopping without Brian and save even more money. He's a convenience food guy!!

I will be updating regularly about our savings and how we plan to build a house for as little as possible. All money from my surveys will be deposited into our house account so check back often to see how we do. Please I need to accountability!!!!!

Tinleigh Update

Finally I get some time to myself!!!! :) We took Tinleigh back to Riley last Tuesday for a check up. When the Dr walked in the room I lost it, crying like a baby. See Tinleigh hadn't been eating or sleeping and was crying uncontrollably for about 3 or 4 days. This is how she acted before we put her on the Neocate. So her Dr the sweetheart that she is started asking questions. "Do you think is has an ear infection?" I sat there and thought about it. "I don't know."

She checked her ears and sure enough she did. Which just kinda shocked me because she ran a low grade temp but we all did with the terrible cold that we had. She never once played with her ears. Our 2 year old Ainsleigh had an ear infection when she was 6 months old but I could figure it out because she was never fussy and all the sudden "SCREAMING BABY!"

Luckily I got her into her regular Dr the next day and got her some antibiotics. Tinleigh is to have an Upper GI scheduled but I am thinking about calling Riley back to see if they still want her to go through with it because she is acting fine now. The only reason she was so fussy was from her ears. I will call them today and see what they say. Other than that she is to go back in June for another check up and then we will try her on whole milk to see if there is a reaction. She did say I could try to give her Rice cereal again to see if she has out grown that tolerance. I'm just scared!!

Gone for the Day

I will be gone today. I have to take Tinleigh back to Riley Children's Hospital for an appointment. I will be back tomorrow with an update.

Switched Banks

I am pleased to announce that as of yesterday we opened a new checking and savings account at a new bank. I have been bugging Brian for years about switching do to a family member working there and snooping through accounts. Finally I was able to get him to make the BIG switch.

We still have our other savings accounts with INGDirect. They have a higher interest rate but we need a local savings account to be able to get money fast if there is an emergency. It takes two business days to get money transferred from ING.

If you are interested in opening an account with INGDirect please send me your e-mail address at LovePeaceandSaving @ gmail . com. If you deposit $250.00 into an new account you will get $25 for free. I will get $10 for referring you, it's a win, win deal.

Home Remedy for a Cold

My dear Husband was so kind enough to share his cold with the entire house and now we are all suffering. But we are kicking it pretty quickly, well that is Brian and myself. We have been taking Wedderspoon Raw Organic Manuka Honey Active 12+ (500g), 17.6-Ounce Jar. Have you tried this stuff? There are many different uses for it but after reading all the reviews from numerous websites we are hooked. This will be our number one go to when we start to feel a cold coming on. Some people have used it to help heal open wounds and for stomach related problems due to IBS.

Check it out, it will definitely save you a co-pay on you doctor visit and prescription. If you have a home remedy that you use please let me know. I would love to hear from you.
