Grocery Round Up

This is the first week using cash. So far we have done well. I have only went to Kroger, but still need to go to Walmart to get Brian's protein bars and burritos for work. I am hoping we can hold out on going to Sams till the middle of next week for water. Here is what we purchased, note not everything made it into the picture.

4-12pks of Coke 2.50 each
2 bags of Marshmallows 1.29 each
4-Post Fruity Pebbles 1.50 each
2-Townhouse crackers 1.88 each
2-Kroger cheese 1.50 each
1lb Strawberries 1.50
Gerber Pasta 1.39
5 Baby Food .79 each
2-4lb bags of Sugar 1.79 each
Grapes 2.90
2 dozen Eggs 1.00 each
2-Sour Cream 1.00 each
Broccoli 2.19
Cauliflower 2.00
1/2 gal 2% Milk 1.25
1/2 gal Skim Milk 1.25
2-Tyson chicken breast 3.96 each

Total: $59.96

Amount left over: 40.04

  2. I am on a high protein diet due to health issues, my husband is not. That said, I make these and we both love them. :) Maybe it would save a bit of money for your budget as it does mine.

    Meal Replacement Protein Bars

    Combine in large mixing bowl.

    8 Scoops Whey (Vanilla is very good)
    3 Cups Oats
    1 Package Sugar Free Fat Free Pudding (Any flavor is good)
    2 Cups Skim Milk(I use soy and it boosts the protein higher)

    Mix until a sticky batter is formed (may take a few minutes).

    Use a large spoon to spread out the mix into the bottom of a Pam-sprayed glass or metal cooking tray,(spread until even), and
    put in the fridge overnight and cut into 8 equal bars that yield:
    3g fat
    28g carbs
    29g protein
    257 calories
    These bars taste amazing, and are perfect for: breakfast, pre OR post workout.
